Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye,
14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. kjv
Proverbs 22:4 By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life. kjv

Thank you for the richness of humility that we can only have by your grace, because no man is humble, nor can he be on his own strength. No man living in sin truly fears the Lord or he would immediately cease and cry out for forgiveness. Only those who have come to the cross and recognized who they really were in the light of God’s holiness truly fear the Lord. This vision and revelation is a gift from God and it changes a person forever, because they are born again.
In Jesus we have a new characteristic being elect of God. We are chosen, picked out with a purpose to be used by God and called believers. By grace we are given this mantle of blessing that we cannot earn, nor do we in any way deserve all that comes with this election. Abounding into our lives is a new position in which we stand before God called holy and only through the shed blood of Jesus. We have a new title as the elect – we are called beloved. Only Jesus was called this by the Father, but through miraculous undeserved grace we are given this privileged new name.
