Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: kjv
In Him also you were circumcised with a circumcision not made with hands, but in a [spiritual] circumcision [performed by] Christ by stripping off the body of the flesh [the whole corrupt, carnal nature with its passions and lusts]. tab
There is no teaching or philosophy that can take the place of a real relationship with Jesus Christ. We can talk about how to have a relationship with Jesus everyday in three easy steps, but until we take a personal step and enter into his presence we do not know Jesus and cannot benefit eternally. Others attempt to have a relationship with God by obeying tradition that is after the world’s values, but none of this is a real relationship with Jesus. There is only one way to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven and that is to be completely in a loving relationship with Jesus, because he is the King. The first step he is asking us to take is to allow him to strip us of our flesh, which is corrupt with worldly passions and lust. Let Jesus crucify this old man, because there is no room for two on the cross. In other words, Jesus is the only one worthy of the cross, so by being one with him we can be complete in him and he can complete this necessary spiritual surgery.
When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive–right along with Christ!
Think of it! All sins forgiven, the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ’s Cross.
He stripped all the spiritual tyrants in the universe of their sham authority at the Cross and marched them naked through the streets. THE MESSAGE
[God] disarmed the principalities and powers that were raging against us and made a bold display and public example of them, in triumphing over them in Him and in it [the cross]. tab
Let us behold the wonderful power of the cross. It wasn’t his cross to bear. Jesus bore our cross. He took a cruel tool of Roman torture and made it into an altar – the most sacred object in the universe. We adore Jesus and hinge our new life on the power of the cross alone. We love the old rugged cross. Every one of our sins were nailed to that cross in the body of our best friend Jesus Christ. The criminal charges against us in the eyes of God our Judge were wiped clean in that instant Jesus said, “It is done!” The power of the cross disarmed Satan. He legally lost his power that day and we were set free from this worldly oppressive power. No demon can oppress a Christian who clings to the old rugged cross, because Jesus overcame the evil one publically for once and for all. Jesus you have triumphed over the evil one and we look forward to the day when this is manifest upon the earth during the thousand year reign.
